Privacy & Cookies
Updated November 2, 2026
This notice explains privacy choices for bghra.org and archive.bghra.org. BGHRA is the Black German Heritage & Research Association. Questions or privacy requests may be sent to info@bghra.org.
Your choices
Optional analytics and embedded external media are off until you allow them. Accepting optional services is not required to browse our pages, archive records, images, search, or filters. Choose Reject optional to keep them off, or use Settings to choose categories separately. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using Cookie Settings at the bottom of either site.
Cookies and similar technology
| Category | Purpose | Duration / choice |
|---|---|---|
| Necessary preferences | bghra_privacy_v1 remembers your analytics and external-media choices across these two sites. It contains the choice, notice version, and time saved, without a unique visitor ID. | 180 days; necessary to remember your choice. |
| Other essential functions | Hosting, security, and authenticated administration may use necessary cookies. Administrator login cookies are separate from public browsing. | Depends on the function; necessary where applicable. |
| Optional analytics | The main website uses Google Analytics through Site Kit and Jetpack statistics to understand visits and interactions. These services can process device, browser, page, and network information and may use identifiers such as Google’s _ga cookies. | Off by default. Google Analytics cookies can persist for up to two years, depending on configuration. Provider and property settings determine actual retention. |
| Optional external media | Videos, maps, and other embedded content may contact YouTube, Vimeo, Google Maps, or other providers. These providers may process your IP address, device details, viewing activity, cookies, or account information. | Off by default; provider-specific durations after you allow loading. |
Images, links, and ordinary website access
Our pages include images and resources, some served by external hosts. Loading these resources can disclose your IP address and browser request information to their hosts; cookie choices do not prevent every ordinary network request. External links take you to independently operated sites with their own privacy practices. You may open a video or map directly on its provider’s website without enabling embedded content here.
Information you provide
If you contact BGHRA, submit information, register for an event, or use a linked service, that activity may involve additional personal information. The information and choices shown with that form or service also apply. Do not send confidential personal records through general website contact channels.
Hosting and security
Website and hosting systems may process IP addresses, request times, requested pages, and technical information for delivery, security, and troubleshooting. Rejecting optional cookies does not disable necessary hosting and security operations.
Providers and transfers
Third-party services may process information outside your country, including in the United States. Learn more from Google’s privacy policy ↗, Automattic’s privacy policy (Jetpack) ↗, and Vimeo’s privacy policy ↗.
Changing your mind and contacting us
Changing your settings reloads the page so the new choice takes effect. Withdrawing analytics permission stops the analytics scripts controlled by this notice on subsequent page loads and removes accessible analytics cookies where possible. It does not reverse information already sent to a provider or delete cookies belonging to another domain. You can also manage cookies through your browser.
Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of your personal information, object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a data protection authority. Contact info@bghra.org so we can address your request.
